Seven years ago after finishing a PhD in Psychology, I wanted to develop the creative side of my brain, and having studied ceramics at school, and working in Japan, I was drawn to ceramics.
All of my work is functional, I want, at least notionally, to be able to use and connect to my work. Holding it, feeling the rough clay, the warmth when heated with tea, the smooth glaze touching my lips - all of these things help to ground me, a connection to the earth itself. In a modern, hectic and highly processed world, I can take a step back to pause, connect and reflect....things often forgotten with the pace of our modern lives
